VIDEO: Thursday afternoon, several groups, including Plan Nevada, Battle Born Progress, Make The Road Nevada, Indivisible, Moms Demand Action, and Democratic Socialists of America, convened to protest Governor Joe Lombardo at the MacDonald Highland Country Club. Lombardo was attending a wine tasting and fundraiser at the Country Club. in Henderson
At the top of the issues was the ongoing cybersecurity threat affecting Nevada since Sunday, which has forced the closure of state offices, taken multiple government websites and phone lines offline, and, according to officials, led to some data being exfiltrated, with the scope still under investigation with federal support. The incident caps two years of high-profile Nevada targets, notably the 2023 breaches of MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment—widely linked to social-engineering crews like Scattered Spider, which caused multimillion-dollar losses and reportedly prompted a ransom payment at Caesars, underscoring the state’s vulnerability in the hospitality and gaming sectors.
The protesters also protested the Nevada Governor for his vetoes of programs that would have benefited residents, including the universal free school meals program for K-12 students, tenant protection and eviction reform bills to curb homelessness, prescription drug price control measures, and an expansion of paid family and medical leave. In addition, participants were very vocal about the policies of the Trump Administration.
